Sir John of blessed memory had a favourite quote that I love so much which says "Too much long talk will never buy you a horse ". NDC government and its functionaries are just talking too much and doing so little. Which areas are you referring to? As a minister you have left that information hanging because nothing will be done immediately the rains cease. A nadmo official a few weeks ago called on the president to dismiss the MCE for ablekuma west for allowing foreigners especially nigerians to build in the wetlands behind the dansoman ssnit flats or behind the mallam market. Master, when you go to that place, it is an eyesore. The way the wet lands have been filled with rocky soil to enable buildings to be put up is horrible. That is what is causing the flooding on the mallam junction and its environs. That corrupt MCE is still in office and nothing has been done about. As I speak these foreigners have purchased electricity poles and when the rain stops they will start extending electricity to the place and transforming these wetlands into a residential area. The concept of the district assemblies and decentralisation was a great idea. The problem is their administrative and enforcement functions have been taken over by corrupt political appointees. What a country we live in???????

And where were the POWERS THAT BA when these buildings were being put up? Why were they not stopped right from the start? Those who authorized the buildings at such places, and those responsible who witnessed those constructions should be fired from their positions IMMEDIATELY. For how long can Ghana allow all such rots to go on? Does Ghana have a responsible Government? I don’t blame any particular Political Party. Both NPP and NDC have been in Power when the constructions were going on. This is the time to have some people responsible and accountable.

It's quite heartwarming to hear that government is about to do something about encroacment on accra wetlands. It's a good thing to advise land owners in the affected areas to seek redress from their landlords. Even more important, but conspicuously missing in the minister's statement is what they plan to do about the government officials who approved the permits and those that took salaries and went to sleep whilst the illegal constructions went on for years. Someone somewhere was supposed to have stopped every single illegal project right in its trakcs. What happened? Ghanaians need answers.
