If he was watching the game intelligently, and not emotionally and dogmatically as it appears to be the case, he would have realised that inspite of the solid defence of the Black Stars, the English team was able to create some clear scoring chances, but failed to utilise them. So England failed to win because they were not able to capitalise on their dominant possession and convert their chances. It was simply a 'bad day' for them, and this sometimes hapens in soccer.
