The rate of cedi appreciation and depreciation against foreign currencies much depends on demand of foreign currencies by traders especially Chinese, Indians ,Lebanese, Turkish, Europeans and West Africans including Ghanaians and supply of foreign currencies by bank of Ghana into forex market. In Ghana today most of our consumables are imported ,from China, Europe ,India and America which is far behind our export to earn foreign currencies. Tourism is where government can improve the existing infrastructure to earn more foreign currencies. Ghana is blessed natural by the SUN ,SEA and SAND( beaches) where these can be harnessed to attract tourists. We also need clean cities, good streets and roads ,transport systems to facilitate movement of people and services. We need good intra / inter cities transport linkages with modern bus stops ,greener cities and ban of trading activities on streets ,roads and pavements .As a country we would one day deplete deposit of our gold and oil to control and support the cedi however we should be mindful that Tourism if well developed sustainable it can be a source of foreign currency earning forever to support the cedi rate on the forex market. This why countries like Britain, Emirates have invested much in Tourism to enable tourists attraction and also earn more foreign currency.
