Sia people, becos one of u got shot, all of a sudden she's is special and important than all those that have bn shot and killed or disabled in the past right? It's Adwoa Safo ur parliamentary friend,so u are hijacking the licence of even peaceful persons who have their guns at their various homes for protection against armed bandits and robbers, rendering their guns illegal to use,so what if they are attacked by armed criminals after ur ban on arms begin to take effect?Don't take any stupid rushed and panic reactions.

How will someone who got licensed several years ago and is a very old person, be trained at a shooting range? Someone aged with little strength in him and indoors always using his weapon to scare criminals entering his house and doesn't go out? Where is the strength for this training? What of his sight? Are they indirectly saying when you've registered your weapon and get old, the government should seize it from you?

People can go for weapon training and emerge as marksmen. People can go through medicals and pass. Passing these training and medicals does not mean and can never mean such people will not misuse their weapons later. Those two tests don't determine and can never determine how someone decides to use his weapon in future, for example, committing suicide or killing someone with his weapon. Those two tests are not linked in anyway to what someone decides to do with his weapon in future. From what the Interior Minister is doing, it's better to tell Ghanaians that no one should own a weapon anymore, including registered ones. They're just going to waste our scarce resources without any positive result. When illegal weapon handlers were asked to freely submit their weapons without facing any sanctions, did they all do it? No. So now that legal handlers of the weapons are also now being unnecessarily pursued, won't it be a futile pursuit? A fiasco because, all registered weapon owners can decide not to come forward with the weapons but still have them in their houses and in this case what can the Minister do? The best security expert in the whole wide world cannot control any body when it comes to how one uses his weapon. The best but impossible bet is to stop the sale of weapons in the nation. This is impossible because people will still get the weapons through our porous borders, borders that are controlled by people ready to accept a few coins and let the weapons be brought into the country. The testing or training of registered owners can be done in the US and nothing will change because a day scarcely passes in the US without someone misusing a weapon. The Interior Minister should search for a different method to deal with this problem because, parading people, including the aged to shooting centres and medical centres to get them new documents to their weapons is not only impossible but also laughable.

Drivers have been getting accidents on a daily basis and killing people. Some of the drivers kill people but do not die themselves. Should their licences be revoked in addition to the licences of those who have never had any accident, let alone killed anyone, for all of them to go back to driving school for further training? When they go back to driving school and come back on to the road, will that stop the accidents? The Interior Minister should rethink. What he's doing right now with regard to revoking weapon licences is so strange and unbefitting of a Minister. Does he need someone to tell him that this is very far from resolving the problem? This is a rash decision which doesn't help this problem at all. He should have taken time to consult a lot of security experts for their opinions to handle the situation.
