Ghana is facing a very serious leadership crisis, and it will surprise you that they will have their way through to the 2030 and even beyond. A white man will never bargain for anything concerning public health. This country is actually retrogression instead of progress. The Nkrumah era through to Acheampong's time kind of leadership are no more. Today we don't have patriotic leadership all are just amassing wealth.

Anytime Ghana want to progress, this so called Unions always try to sabotage it. By 2030, they will still find excuses to ask for another extension. Government should let the ban stand no matter what.

How about the ubiquitous black bags and the water sachets? They existed before this other nuisance was added. We've played politics with it's ban for several years. The manufacturers don't want to take responsibility. They know our regulators have a price. A major reason why things don't work.
Over 30 countries across Africa have enacted laws effecting partial or total bans of single use plastics covering ultra thin carrier bags to single use water and sachets and alcoholic beverage pouches.
Rwanda is the gold standard. Kenya, Eritrea, Tanzania, Madagascar and others provide examples and templates Ghana can draw lessons from.
Government must be firm and act quickly.
