Hello Mr SSNT boss, if this assertion is really true that you said it, then you have a very low IQ, and I believe Ghana has many of such inept occupying key national positions. Globally, the least said about solving youth unemployment is thinking about filling retirement gaps with new recruits. Come on, you are too big to think that way. I have been working a public sector in institution since 2010, at that time the workforce was about 3000, and as I speak today 2026, the total employee of the same organisation is less than 1000, even though the national population has kept increased exponentially. No serious country rely on retirement gaps to solve youth unemployment problem. Conscious efforts are made through policy directions to create good and well paid jobs every year by all serious nations. That's how serious minds think. Enough of the "kontomire" mindsets having forced their ways into helms of affairs churning poor decision at the detriment of national development. Do you think the developed countries never considered your this weak opinion before opting for extending the pension age? Have you also considered the depth of experience and expertise being thrown away because of short pension age? Please come again.

There has been several incidents where people try to change their ages to stay on longer.
People can retire but start taking full pension after 62 years. Between the retirement age and turning 62, they can take half pension.

Me, I wish the retirement age is 55years without loosing full benefits. Thats taking a full monthly benefit till one gets 60years to collect lumpsum. SSNIT boss must review that so people can volunteer to leave their space for a young man or woman to occupy. 30yrs of work must be enough to retire if properly planned.
The older generation must be available at home to spend time to nurture the grandchildren into responsible adults. Not surprised the current generation lacks discipline . The elderly are needed home to fill gaps of firsthand home training when parents are all out to work.

There should be NO COMPULSORY retirement age in the first place. Forced retirement is huge disadvantage to the older generation who when they were younger and working were not paid reasonable and adequate salaries vis-a-vis the demands of the jobs. Take the Nurses and Midwives, for example, they do night duties from 8pm to 8am and are paid s paltry amount of ghc3000 to 4500 in today Ghana monthly. How much can they save monthly and use it for investment to help them when they retire? So because salaries are poor, it's a big burden on those are around age 60 how they are going to cope after compulsory retirement. Meanwhile, the Members of Parliament and politicians and appointments, the so-called Article 71 holders, are far higher monthly and take per diems and sitting allowances and huge ex-gratias with no retirement age for them!. So there's already so much economic injustice in the country. I'm the Western countries which are more developed they have no compulsory retirement age besides they paying better salaries, and the youth get employment and immigrants come there and do well economically because they encourage private sector and innovative ways of employment. In Canada, for instance, many people voluntarily retire by 50 because they have been well-paid over the years and therefore can reasonably invest after 50 and live a more relaxed lives and be touring the world; and, even they don't have compulsory retirement. A friend in Australia says compulsory retirement, as exists in Ghana, is a feature of 3rd world and underdeveloped countries.
