Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has declared that no one has the authority to expel him from the party, insisting that he was among those who helped build the political tradition from its inception.

Speaking on Okay FM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Anyidoho said his long-standing association with the NDC and its roots in the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) era make it impossible for anyone to remove him from the party.

“I wasn't born into the NDC. I was born before the PNDC era. We were part of the building of the NDC. So, nobody can sack me from the NDC,” he stated.

The outspoken politician, however, indicated that his current outlook extends beyond partisan politics, describing himself as a nationalist committed to Ghana's development.

“But now I'm more of a nationalist. I am a nation builder; if the NPP is doing something good, we will back them,” he said.

Anyidoho used the interview to criticize what he described as the discontinuation of key national development initiatives whenever there is a change in government, warning that the practice undermines long-term progress.

He cited the Agenda 111 hospital project as an example, arguing that significant funding had already been secured for the initiative before the current administration took office.

“Agenda 111 project was accessing 60 per cent funding which was coming from the petroleum revenue. Now, this government halted that and are wasting the money,” he alleged.

According to him, reports that the same funding source is being redirected to finance the government's Big Push infrastructure programme raise concerns about continuity in national development planning.

“I understand they are using the same funds for their Big Push. Now if a different government comes and discontinues it, then that project also stalls,” he said.

The former NDC executive stressed that citizens and political actors have a responsibility to speak out when they believe policies or decisions are not in the national interest.

“So now, you tell me that when things are going wrong we shouldn't talk about it. God forbid. We will talk about it,” he stated.

Anyidoho also voiced opposition to any move to impose taxes on the Heritage Fund, warning that he and like-minded Ghanaians would resist such efforts.

“Do you know that they want to tax the Heritage Fund? We will not allow them to tax it. Now you want to tax the Heritage Fund. We will speak against it,” he said.
