In the aftermath, a video shared by GHBrain has surfaced online, showing what the building looked like before it collapsed.
The footage shows a three-storey structure housing several showrooms, with what appears to be at rooftop level, before it eventually gave way.
The collapse occurred at about 4:25 am on June 7, 2026, drawing a massive emergency response as rescuers raced against time to save lives.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Ghana Police Service, and the Ghana Armed Forces were deployed to the scene, where rescue teams worked through piles of broken concrete and twisted metal in search of survivors.
Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey, who visited the scene, confirmed that one person had died in the incident, while efforts were still ongoing to rescue others feared trapped under the debris.
Eyewitnesses described terrifying moments shortly before dawn when a loud crashing sound shook the area, forcing residents and nearby workers to rush out of their homes and towards the scene.
