Universally, cementing houses is dicouraged to allow the earth to soak in rain water. The othe benefit is the water table from which all these bore holes get their water, will be replenished. If this is ignored, a time will come when the water table will be drained. All wetlands must be jealously protected. Our politicians need spine in this regard.

Simple solutions are needed at this point not complex and almost impossible proposals. What we need right now as a matter of priority are:
1. Build more drains
2. Remove all structures on the water ways
3. Desilt all drains
4. Enforce punishment on ppl who use drains as refuse dumps
5. Make shop owners responsible for cleaning and desilting the drains in front of their shops
We can do this within a year to minimize flooding immediately.
