@Oprege, you're today enjoying peace in Ghana due to the bravery of President Rawlings' approval of public execution of criminals who were tried and convicted by the courts. So for your information, those who were executed committed offences which drew such punishment. Today, there's no fear when people want to commit heinous crimes like murder because there's no firing squad anymore.

If we send all these criminals stealing govt money to firing squad, these politicians will be steady. That is what we need instead of the courts playing hide and seek with criminals.

Oprege, the man had not told us of their crimes oooo.. Death penalty brought some sanity into to country, today someone will boldly tell you I will kill you and it won’t go anywhere and homicides have increased a triple fold, why? No one fears anyone, a footballer butchered children in fridge, an immigration officer was murdered by a friend he went to collect money from and the body was burnt, a charcoal seller butchered her husband in his sleep because he squandered charcoal money, a pastor was caught trying to bury 8 months old baby, a young man going to sell his car was killed by his friend and had absconded to Togo. A military guy killed his friend, and wife leaving their child locked in a room with decomposed corpses until the stench got people to break the door and rescue. The death penalty made people think twice before acting. The noose is for evil men so the next time you condemn a man who had balls to exterminate evil people look around you, you may be a next guy to be murdered by your neighbors all people of a simple misunderstanding.

Kalabule was ripe , lawlessness and ques to buy sugar and milk.No access to petrol or kerosene. Ghana was a failed state.
Rawlins faced loads of challenges from anti revolutionary elements from some Ghanaians who wanted to maintain the old ways. There were sponsored coup detat attempts but for the sake of the love for his country he stayed and saw Ghana through challenges . Police and solders were tasked to escort yam and other crops from the north to Accra and other places to prevent hunger. Police and soldiers ecsorted our citizens from Aflao border to Accra free of charge when Nigerians asked Ghanaians to leave (Ghana must go) . Despite all this , JJ kept the country together and we still have one Ghana. Ghanaians should honour JJ . He was a true patriot. I am not talking about the Night patrols , sleepless nights. Look at Ghana today, a proud and prosperous country. The envy of many. We were there, the children of the revolution. We dare not tell the story.ALUTA . JJ should be honored. A wise man said, 'success in war is like charity in religion, it attones for multitude of sins. JJ was not a saint but his good deeds outweigh his shorcomings.

Most of these people who talk about Rawlings without a shred of evidence were not even born or out of diapers at the time of the revolution. They were not the students who have go to Markola in order to buy university entry forms, textbooks or postage stamps at kalabule prices. I am not talking about provisions, pharmaceuticals and basic necessities for human survival. They just jump on the tribal bandwagon with ignorance and misinformation from then corrupt descendants who still can’t find their feet because their parents ill gotten riches were cut off to create a just and equal society. God knows what Ghana would have been today with all that ills and failed society that was about to explode into class war and ethnic violence.

Nonsense, what is good about that opportunist, Rawlings? Anyone old and analytical enough, would have realised how evil JJ was. The corruption JJ inherited in 1979 was far lesser than what he left behind after his tenure, He was a murderer, and no amount of his idiotic excuses would justify the blood he shed in vain. Now, look at his cat-face before his maker - God is dealing with him according to his wickedness.

Odwan ba @Ethical Dilemma. Onyaaye gbemi womafunu...!!!! Kwasiakwa! Your stupid Akuffo Addo and Ofori-Atta are typical examples of the kind of mighty corruption that existed back in the days of JJRawlings. Over 95% of the Ghanaian population gave him all their blessings for every act. The corruption was known as kalabule, and it was widespread across the entire country. Never in Ghana's political history has the Minister of Finance for any regime ever ran away to go and hide permanently in a foreign land when he has not even been told about any crime that he has committed. That is a voluntary, self-declaration of being A CRIMINAL

You're simply ignorant with pea-size brains for the following reasons:
1. Do we have the death penalty as possible sentence for convicted criminal in Ghana? Is the death penalty prohibited or may be carried out at the discretion of the president of some committee?
2. Do we have SOP's for convicts who are sentenced to death?
3. Has the constitution or military rule mandated practices and procedures to be followed in judicial trials?
4. Were the people convicted in a court or tribunal where J. J. Rawlings sat as the sole prosecutor, judge and jury?
5. Per our laws who signs off on people sentenced to death?
Do you and your collection of hateful bunch know who, when and what initiated the first batch of political crimes in Ghana under the democratically elected Kwame Nkrumah?
Should all those people participate in crimes against Ghana be wiped out? Should anyone who participated in the overthrow of the civilian government of Kwame Nkrumah have been killed or at the very least imprisoned for life? Do you know the number of people killed, rendered fatherless or without mothers or both parents in the 1966 coup?
Please think before you post about things you have no capacity to discuss or analyze with intellect.

What is the import of this story? These funny stories are emerging because Media General or Ghanaweb wants, at all cost to soil the name of Rawlings and the NDC party. When you tried Akufo-Addo for eight years, did you and your community benefit any success? Are you insinuating that what transpired at the Prisons was extra-judicial killings? Even in the USA, prisoners are executed. Stop this nonsense as it has the tendency to polarise the country. We will continue to react to such silly print-outs. Are you saying those we suspect you are shielding are angels and law abiding? Stop this nonsense. Were we not here in 2020 when eight Ghanaians were gunned down during elections and branded armed robbers? Is that not chilling enough? Twerps.

The execution he is talking about was carried out on July 17th, 1993. 20 inmates were to be executed but when the list of names got to Nsawam Prisons , one name had already been cancelled per red pen , and the inmate was Courage Aryee who was in Cell 10 up-landing.
On that day , the Block-leader ,former Airforce Sgt. Oduro Frimpong ( Nyameakwan) was given the list to call out the names when the officers got to the Special Block.Mr Dan Dogo , then ACO was the Blockmaster with Supt. Dapaa as the Blockmanager.
