JJ Rawlings took power through a military coup and handed power to a civilian in the person of Dr. Hilla Limman. The question is why didn't he rule by himself? JJ wasn't interested in becoming a head of State but wanted a leader who wasn't corrupt.
He later realised that, the bad guys he toppled had infiltrated the Limman gov't which prompted him to topple that gov't again and this time around, he held on to power and dealt ruthlessly with the criminals of State.
Many of the relatives and families of those criminals who waged a crusade against JJ and labelled him as a devil, a group you clearly belong. During those days, your region, the Ashanti region was the epicenter of crime ranging from armed robbery, ritual killings, business profiteering causing artificial shortages through hoarding of goods etc.

Afu Boahen's case is just the tip of the iceberg. At the Parliamentary Accounts Committee, we hear several cases of similar rots that are swept under the carpet leaving the guilty perpetrators to escape and enjoy their stolen loot in a state of undeserved freedoms and liberties.

However after assuming office the attitudes , behaviour and the work ot the AG leaves much to be desired. Some of us expect the AG to stop the character Assassinations and persecute his cases in the law courts. For when did it become illegally to acquire chain of properties in Ghana unless proving by the courts that they were acquired through corruption or dubious means ?
