A 37-year-old man, Opoku Agyemang, has reportedly been stabbed to death following an argument with his landlord over an alleged GH¢30 electricity debt at Medie Ketewa in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, has left residents of the community in shock, especially as the deceased and the suspect were said to be close friends and long-time work colleagues, in addition to their landlord-tenant relationship.
According to a report by myjoyonline.com published on May 20, 2026, Opoku, a married man with three children, allegedly owed his landlord, 50-year-old Kofi Koranteng, GH¢30 in electricity bills.
Community sources indicated that the disagreement escalated after the landlord reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with how the tenant handled the payment of the electricity charges and invited him into his room to discuss the issue.

An eyewitness, Enoch Idan Danquah, alleged that the confrontation turned violent during the discussion.
“However, the discussion reportedly turned violent after the landlord allegedly pulled out a machete and stabbed Opoku multiple times,” the eyewitness recounted.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled the scene.
The matter has since been reported to the police, while officers from the Ghana Police Service have conveyed the body to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
