New Patriotic Party(NPP) communicator, Nana Adjei, has criticised the government over the implementation of its proposed 24-hour economy policy, arguing that there is little evidence to show the initiative is being practised.
Speaking on Angel FM in Kumasi, Nana Adjei questioned why the secretariat responsible for the policy allegedly operates within normal working hours despite promoting a 24-hour work system.
“The 24-hour economy secretariat works from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are preaching a 24-hour economy, then show it by example,” he stated.
According to him, the government has failed to deliver on the promises attached to the policy despite being in office for over a year.
“It has been 16 months and they have done nothing. They promised Ghanaians this and they have still not delivered,” he said.
Nana Adjei argued that the original promise of the policy went beyond market construction and infrastructure announcements.
“The promise was not about building markets. There is no evidence yet for what they promised,” he added.
He also questioned the status of some initiatives and structures that the governing National Democratic Congress had earlier pledged to establish.
“The women’s branch, they promised, where is it?” he asked.
The NPP communicator further claimed that dissatisfaction and hardship are affecting even supporters within the ruling party.
“Even within the NDC party, people are suffering. There are no jobs for anyone,” he alleged.
According to Nana Adjei, frustration among grassroots supporters of the governing party continues to grow due to unmet expectations.
“Nothing is going well in that party. The grassroots are bleeding and crying,” he concluded.
