Ghanaian youngster Douglas Owusu has crowned an impressive season by winning the Serbian Super Liga title with Red Star Belgrade following the club’s successful campaign.
The 20-year-old attacker joined the Serbian giants during the January transfer window from fellow top-flight side FK Radnik Surdulica and quickly adapted to life at one of the biggest clubs in the Balkans.
Despite arriving midway through the season, Owusu made a notable contribution to Red Star’s title-winning run with a series of energetic and impactful performances.
The talented Ghanaian forward ended the league campaign with an impressive tally of nine goals and one assist, combining his numbers from spells at both Radnik and Red Star.
Owusu’s rise this season has been one of the standout stories involving Ghanaian players in Eastern Europe.
After impressing at Radnik in the first half of the campaign, his performances attracted the attention of Red Star, who moved swiftly to secure his signature in January.
Since making the switch, the youngster has continued to show maturity and attacking quality beyond his age, scoring crucial goals and fitting seamlessly into Dejan Stanković squad.
Winning the Serbian league title marks the first major trophy of Owusu’s professional career and represents another significant milestone in his development.
His strong performances in Serbia are also likely to strengthen his reputation among Ghanaian football followers and national team observers.
With confidence high and silverware already secured, Owusu will now look to build on his breakthrough campaign and continue his development at Red Star Belgrade ahead of next season.
