The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has cautioned the general public, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and prospective bidders to disregard fraudulent contract award publications currently circulating in the public domain in the name of the fund.

According to GETFund, some individuals and groups are spreading false information relating to alleged contract opportunities and procurement engagements with the intention of deceiving unsuspecting members of the public and extorting money from contractors and bidders.

In a statement issued on May 14, 2026, the fund stressed that the publications are fake, unauthorised, and do not originate from GETFund, adding that it does not directly award works contracts to contractors.

The statement further explained that projects are allocated to various coordinating councils only after parliamentary approval and requests from relevant stakeholders, including heads of institutions, Members of Parliament, and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

“In the first place, GETFund does not award works contracts directly to contractors. The Fund allocates projects to the various coordinating councils after receiving approval from Parliament and requests from stakeholders,” portions of the statement noted.

GetFund additionally noted that it would not be liable for any financial loss, commitment, or engagement resulting from dealings connected to the fake contract schemes.

It also disclosed its readiness to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service and other national security agencies to investigate the matter and bring those behind the fraudulent activities to justice.

“The Fund further wishes to assure the public that it is taking immediate steps to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service and relevant national security agencies to investigate and bring the perpetrators behind these fraudulent activities to justice,” the statement said.
