Joseph Paul Amoah has revealed that Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team is fully focused on executing a perfect race as they set their sights on the ultimate prize at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra on Friday, May 15, 2026.
The Ghanaian quartet secured qualification to the final after a strong semi-final performance on Thursday, May 14, 2026, booking their place in the medal race and keeping home hopes alive inside the University of Ghana Stadium.
Speaking after the semi-final, Amoah stressed that the team is taking a step-by-step approach as they prepare for the final showdown, insisting that qualification was only the first task.

“I preach round by round. This is the first round of the relay. We came out here to try to qualify for the finals and we did it,” he said.
With the final now ahead, Amoah believes there is still work to be done in refining their performance, particularly in the baton exchanges, which he described as the most crucial factor in relay success.
“We have a few things to polish in tomorrow’s warm-up and then we’ll come out there and make the podium,” he added.
The Ghanaian sprinter made it clear that the ultimate ambition goes beyond just reaching the final, as the team targets gold on home soil.
“Our goal is to win the ultimate and to be able to do that, we have to execute the race tomorrow,” Amoah said.
Ghana will come up against a strong Nigerian side once again, the same team that denied them gold at the 2023 African Games.
