Diplomatic Passport holder?Trump caused to arrest the President of Venezuela in his bedroom in his country some months ago and brought over here to face trial.
I guess the the question we needed to ask is what has he done? But time will tell

To Rasheed Draman. Was the MP on national assignment before his arrested or on a private trip? Also, he was being monitored by the FBI which I think he was aware due to his brush with law or something and that should have given some prior notice that some "Eagle-eyes" are watching him.
At times, some of us believe that with some status like MP, diplomatic passport given to us, we are immune to anything, but it doesn't work like that. When you are under surveillance, it is matter of precaution because you can be picked up anytime.
Now, to me, I don't believe this is a national concern because when Eric Amoateng was arrested in the US, did it become a national concern, so why this? This is a message to all and sundry that some deals that we do should end due to some position that we hold else, one day, the accounting time will come unexpected.
The guy should be left to deal with whatever may come his way because he is a dirty guy who shouldn't be in parliament.

I totally disagree with you. Being an MP is taking on another persona as the representative of the people. It does not erase your original persona as an individual responsible for your past, present, and future behavior. Otherwise, all politicians could be declared immune to prosecution or investigation for their acts both within and outside their parliamentary duties. The proper question people should ask is whether the purported charge is connected to his work. Does any MP need to do what he is supposed to have done to do his work? If the reason for his arrest does not in any way affect his work as an MP, then we cannot cover those acts simply because the culprit is an MP.

If he has committed a crime, why should his arrest be of national concern? He's used dubious means to amass wealth to gain political power. Let him go defend himself.

Interesting, yes he is a Parliamentarian of the Republic of Ghana but whatever necessitated his arrest was a private transaction; I doubt if he was arrested for a transaction on behalf of the State gone bad. What Ghana needs now is a full disclosure from the US authorities as to why the MP was arrested, even without any disclosure one can safely say that the MP was or is involved in something dangerously bad.No security agency arrests people in such a manner for fun, something serious is cooking in the pot.

As for this one de3 I bet to differ. This is not a national concern biara. In Ghana, our politicians bulldoze their way through in every sphere of life. I know MP can be arrested even in Ghana so what makes it a national concern? NDC has taken the centre stage of the arrest of this MP because he relates well with the majority in parliament. If he were to be npp MP, eii ndc would be on roof tops calling npp names. THIS IS NOT A NATIONAL CONCERN period. I wish him well to scale through the charges being levelled against him.

Rubbish. That criminal case against him is a private matter that has nothing to do Ghana, despite the fact that he now serves in Ghana's Parliament. He committed those crimes in the USA before becoming a Member of Parliament, and he must answer to those charges without any interference from the Ghana government. This isn't a national concern, it's rather a personal matter and another blot on the already stained image of Ghana politics with its politicians being arrested either for engaging in fraud or narcotics. This guy would not have been in Parliament with the serious charges that were already pending against him in the USA court had his constituents not been too loving of seeing crooked politicians flash and throw money all over the place in an election. These are the same constituents who are now advocating for his release because they 'believe' the allegations against him may not be true.

The FBI is a diligent organisation. The wheel of justics must be made to work. This is a disgrace to parliament and all Ghanaians. If the MP was an any ordinary Ghanaian will the Govt of Ghana care. A diplomatic passport means northing when it comes serious crimes including murder. It is better for Gh government to stay out of this. In future all parliamentarians should be vetted before the elections. Very soon Ghanaian dilpomatic passports will mean nothing to Passport Control in foreign lands. A word to this wise.......
