A Ghanaian pastor, Prophet Kwadwo, is demanding GH¢40,000 in compensation from his ex-wife, Prophetess Happy of the Christ Apostolic Church, after she allegedly divorced him barely a month after their official wedding.

According to Prophet Kwadwo, he met Prophetess Happy through a colleague pastor’s church.

He explained that after taking her phone number from the pastor, he contacted her and proposed marriage to her, which she accepted. However, he claimed the marriage collapsed just a month after their wedding.

Speaking on Oyerpa Afutuo, a programme that discusses domestic and relationship issues on May 8, 2026, Prophet Kwadwo disclosed that he took a loan of GH¢30,000 to finance the wedding ceremony.

“When I took the loan, I believed that after the wedding I would be able to pay back through the money that we will get but she did not support me financially in any way,” he stated.

He further alleged that tensions began on their wedding day after disagreements arose between both families over food arrangements. According to him, Prophetess Happy became upset and declared she was no longer interested in the marriage.

“She told me it was I who wanted to marry her, so I had to bear all the expenses myself,” Prophet Kwadwo claimed.

The pastor also stated that one week before the wedding, Prophetess Happy informed him that she no longer wanted to continue with the marriage and wanted them to separate. Despite this, the wedding still took place.

Reacting to the compensation demand, Prophetess Happy argued that she also deserves compensation because the two had sexual relations during the marriage.

“He has also slept with me, so if he is demanding compensation, then I will also demand compensation for sleeping with me,” she said.

Speaking on her side of the story, Prophetess Happy alleged that Prophet Kwadwo did not treat her well during the marriage. She claimed he travelled without informing her and engaged in certain behaviours that influenced her decision not to continue with the marriage.

Although she agreed to pay compensation, she insisted that she would also seek compensation for the sexual relationship they had during the marriage.
