Auntie Esi, a 40-year-old farmer and charcoal producer in Ekumfi Asaman, has been taken into custody after allegedly killing her husband, Kweku Blankson, during a domestic dispute that spiraled out of control, according to myjoyonline.com report on May 9, 2026.

Community members say the couple had been locked in a bitter quarrel over the finances of their joint charcoal business. Esi reportedly accused Blankson of withholding profits from recent sales, sparking heated arguments that escalated into physical violence.

Witnesses recount that after an earlier confrontation, many assumed the matter had calmed.

However, later that night, while Blankson was asleep, Esi allegedly retrieved a sharpened cutlass from their kitchen and attacked him. Isaac Panyin Mensah, a resident who witnessed the aftermath, described the scene as horrifying, with Blankson left in a pool of blood after sustaining multiple deep wounds.

Neighbours rushed him first to Mankessim Hospital, but due to severe blood loss, he was referred to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital. Tragically, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. His body has since been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

The incident has shocked the Ekumfi community, where the couple was well known for their farming and charcoal production. Residents are grappling with grief and disbelief over the violent turn of events.
