The suspect behind the disappearance of Theophilus Ashitey, a young man who went missing after leaving his home in Oyibi in the Greater Accra Region to meet individuals interested in purchasing a vehicle he had advertised online, has allegedly confessed to killing him.
According to a report by Crime Check Ghana shared on social media on May 1, 2026, “Wisdom has confessed to killing Theophilus and burnt his body in a different car in a bush around the University of Ghana Legon.”
It may be recalled that the Ghana Police Service earlier disclosed that suspected bloodstains were found in the room of a key suspect in the case, raising concerns of possible foul play.

This development follows ongoing investigations into the disappearance of 27-year-old Theophilus Ashitey Amarh, who was reported missing after leaving home to sell his car.
In a press release dated April 14, 2026, the Police stated that the Oyibi District Police Command had launched a manhunt for one Wisdom Tetteh in connection with the case.
The statement explained that on April 7, 2026, a report was made indicating that the victim had gone out the previous day to sell his Hyundai Elantra after being introduced to a prospective buyer by the suspect, but failed to return home.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was last seen at the suspect’s residence at Saasabi, where he had been invited to meet the said buyer.
Further intelligence led officers back to the suspect’s residence on April 10, 2026, where suspected bloodstains were discovered. The scene was subsequently processed by the National Crime Scene Management Team with support from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the CID Headquarters.
