The 2026 national May Day celebration is underway at Jackson Park, drawing hundreds of workers from across Ghana to mark the annual event.

Held under the theme “Pivoting to Growth, Jobs and Sustainable Livelihoods Beyond Macroeconomic Stability,” this 2026 celebration focuses on the need to translate economic gains into employment opportunities and improved living standards.

The event has brought together a broad cross-section of the workforce, including organised labour groups, public and private sector employees, and trade unions from different parts of the country.

Activities for the day feature a colourful march past by various labour unions, solidarity messages from organised labour, and speeches from key stakeholders.

Representatives of the Trades Union Congress, alongside government officials, are expected to address the gathering.

The President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, is also scheduled to deliver the keynote address, where he is expected to outline government strategies aimed at improving working conditions, expanding job opportunities, and sustaining economic recovery.

As part of the celebration, awards will be presented to outstanding workers and institutions in recognition of their contributions to national development.
