Confusion as 39-year-old widow seeks DNA test after 24-year-old 'lover' denies pregnancy

A 39-year-old widowed mother of four, identified as Obaa Yaa, is seeking justice after a 24-year-old man she claims is responsible for her fifth child allegedly refused to accept responsibility.

Out of frustration, Obaa Yaa took the matter to Oyerepa Afutuo, a programme on Oyerepa TV that focuses on domestic issues, on April 27, 2026, to seek intervention and resolution.

According to her, the young man persistently pursued her despite her initial refusal.

“I told him I am older than him, so I cannot have an affair with him. But he said he loved me. I also insisted that my husband had died not long ago, so I could not be with him,” she said.

“He kept insisting that he liked me and promised he would take responsibility for the child if I became pregnant,” she added.

The widow maintained that the young man, identified as Nana Bonsu, 24, from Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, must be held accountable for his actions.

She alleged that their relationship resulted in the pregnancy and after giving birth, Bonsu has refused to take responsibility, prompting her to seek redress through the media.

While Nana Bonsu initially denied the allegations, Obaa Yaa stood by her claims and urged him to acknowledge his role.

When contacted to appear on the programme, Nana Bonsu denied the allegations and insisted that he had never had any intimate relationship with her.

Following the conflicting claims, the matter was referred to a medical officer for a DNA test to determine the paternity of the unborn child and establish the truth behind the allegations.
