Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has criticised the FA over its decision to convert the Black Stars coach’s residence into an office space.
He indicated that the GFA’s decision to convert the coach’s residence at Airport Residential area into an office is flawed and does not make sense.
He argued that most of the activities of the technical directorate, including the training of coaches, referees, and other officials, are held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence. Therefore, allocating an office at the residence is imprudent, which he described as “senseless.”

“A technical directorate is where football-related technical issues are addressed. For example, women’s football should have an office there, referees’ training should have an office there, and coaches’ training must have an office there.
“All these trainings take place in Prampram, and even the GFA headquarters is located at Osu. If you are someone from Ghana who knows the value of locations in the country, and you make Airport Residential the technical directorate, excuse me to say, do you have sense or are you senseless?” he said in Twi during an interview with Adom TV.
There has been widespread public criticisms after it emerged that newly appointed Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz had to sleep in a hotel before his unveiling, as the official residence for coaches had been converted into an office.
