Head coach of Ghana’s U-17 team, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, has revealed that his decision to coach Ebusua Dwarfs was rooted in his academic duty to serve society.
According to him, the move was not initially about professional coaching but rather an extension of his responsibilities as a lecturer.
“As part of our work as lecturers, we teach, we do research, and we engage in extension services, which is community service,” he explained.
Dr Ogum disclosed that when Dwarfs needed a coach, he was recommended through academic channels and received approval from his department.
“The department said it’s part of community service, so why not go and do it?” he stated.
He added that the experience bridged the gap between theory and practice, allowing him to apply scientific principles to football management.
