The Bono East Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority following a patrol operation in Kintampo.

According to a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on April 27, 2026, the suspects were apprehended on Saturday, April 26, 2026, during a routine patrol.

“The Bono East Regional Police confirms the arrest of two suspects for possession of narcotic drugs without lawful authority following a police patrol operation on Saturday, April 26, 2026, at Kintampo,” it noted.

The suspects, identified as Sadie Wemah, 42, and Senbeti Karim, 39, were intercepted while travelling in an unregistered white Toyota Highlander along the New Longoro–Weila stretch of the Kintampo–New Longoro road.

The vehicle was said to be heading from the Kintampo direction at the time of the arrest.

The police said a search conducted on the vehicle uncovered two sacks containing 166 parcels of dried plant material suspected to be cannabis.

During interrogation, both individuals reportedly admitted ownership of the substance and confirmed it to be cannabis.

They told police that the drugs were purchased from a man identified only as Edem, also known as “Confirm,” who is believed to transport cannabis from the Volta Region through Tamale.

The suspects further disclosed that they received the consignment at a filling station near the new market in Kintampo and intended to transport it to Banda Nkwanta in the Bono Region for sale.

“They stated that they purchased the substance from a man identified only as Edem, alias ‘Confirm,’ who allegedly transports cannabis from the Volta Region through Tamale. The suspects further indicated that they took delivery of the substance at a filling station near the new market in Kintampo.

“They disclosed that the street value of the seized substance is approximately GH¢107,000.00 and that they intended to transport it to Banda Nkwanta in the Bono Region for sale,” it noted.

The retrieved items, including the suspected cannabis and the vehicle, have been retained as evidence.

The Bono East Regional Police Command also reiterated its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and related offences within the region.

“The Bono East Police Command remains committed to combating drug trafficking and related crimes within its jurisdiction. We commend the vigilance of the patrol team and assure the public that thorough investigations are ongoing to apprehend other persons connected to this case, including the said Edem alias ‘Confirm,’” it added.
