Giving is of or from the heart. If one give under duress he or she gets nothing out of it because it is not from the heart but under duress and therefore murmuring will folow. But it from the heart no matter the amount it pleasing and a blessing.
Giving is done out of conviction and love. The quantum is not the main reason but what comes out of the heart. Giving money out of love is good but be careful you don't scare the young ones. People marry from humble beginnings and become filthy rich together. The heart is the most important pastor!

Government increased my salary by less than 10 percent this year so how much do you expect me to give? 50GHC cedis?

In fact, I'm reviewing my whole financial contribution towards church activities. I found out that after paying my tithe, I still spend about 20 percent of my salary on offering, missionary offering, this offering and that offering, pledges etc. It also costs me money to get to church and back.

If as much as 30 percent of my salary is going to church, what should I use in taking care of my family and parents?

The old testament model of investing in God's work should not be carried into the new testament. The tithes were for taking care of the Levites who were not supposed to work and had no inheritance.

Today, I don't understand why a pastor wouldn't work. My wife's pastor was a medical doctor. A lot of pastors and their families of plenty children just choose to depend on church coffers for everything and still, are very ungrateful to church members.

My advice to pastors is to get a job and stop being an ungrateful leech.

Even Jesus was into construction work and Paul was a tent maker who was even uncomfortable with his members sending him money.

The most annoying thing is that, in some churches, the pastors consider themselves worthy of salary and leave out the elders, instrumentalists and church secretary to fend for themselves.

Such selfish behaviour!

Just open the floor for us church members to talk in church and you would be surprised at what you hear from us. Just try it. I dare you.
