The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced the safe return of its crew following the historic Artemis II mission; a 10-day journey around the Moon.

In a post shared on its official Facebook page, NASA confirmed the successful conclusion of the mission and invited space enthusiasts to relive the moment in multi-media contents shared on its online resources.

“Let’s run that back. One more time… Or two? Our crew is now safely back on Earth. Relive the historic mission, and keep an eye on our website as more images and videos keep rolling in,” the post read.

In an earlier update on Friday, April 10, 2026, NASA noted that the Artemis II mission, which began on April 1, 2026, had reached its final day, marking a major milestone in modern space exploration.

The mission featured four astronauts: Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch; an alumna of the University of Ghana and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency.

During the mission, the crew reportedly broke the record for the farthest distance traveled by humans from Earth, surpassing a milestone set more than 50 years ago during the Apollo 17 mission.

The astronauts maintained constant communication with NASA’s ground team as they completed their journey and safely returned to Earth, with landing expected off the coast of San Diego, California, in the United States.

About the Artemis II Mission

Artemis II is a 10-day crewed spaceflight designed to send astronauts on a flyby around the Moon and back to Earth. The mission was launched from the Kennedy Space Center aboard NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.

It marks several historic firsts, including:

The first crewed flight of the Orion spacecraft
The second launch of the Space Launch System
The first human mission beyond low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972

The mission is part of NASA’s broader Artemis Programme, which aims to return humans to the Moon and lay the groundwork for future missions to Mars.

According to reports by CNN, Artemis II represents a critical step toward deep space exploration, coming more than five decades after the last crewed lunar mission. It is designed to test spacecraft systems and ensure the safety of astronauts ahead of future Moon landings.

The mission also highlights renewed global interest in space exploration and reflects increasing diversity in human spaceflight, with an international and inclusive crew.

A New Era of Space Exploration

The successful completion of Artemis II signals a major leap forward in humanity’s return to deep space. As NASA and its partners continue to push the boundaries of exploration, the mission stands as a symbol of technological progress, international collaboration, and the enduring quest to explore beyond Earth.
