GH GOVT PURCHASES TOYOTA VEHICLES FOR VARIOUS SECTORAL MINISTERS. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU IMPORT THE VEHICLE AND YOU COMPROMISED THE CAR MECHANICALY AND THEN PLACE THE VEHICLE ON THE ROADS. IT CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE HARM AND HIS IS WHAT THE AUTHORITIES IN GH I BELIEVE ARE REFERRING TO. MIND YOU, THE ISSUES RAISED LIKE STREET LIGHTING, BAD ROADS, POTHOLES AND RECKLESS DRIVER BEHAVIOR NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. I WAS RECENTLY IN GH AND MOST TIMES I SEE MOST PEOPLE, DRIVERS BEHAVING LIKE MORONS, ANIMALS. THESE MOTHERFUCKERS DONT USE THEIR BRAINS. YOU STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND DRIVERS HONK AT YOU TO MOVE OR THEY SIMPLY DRIVE PAST YOU AND HURL INSULTS AT YOU. NO SENSE OF ORDER, PLANNING ANYWHERE. ITS A ZOO

1.) NOT used for commercial purpose. These minivans sometimes called PEOPLES CAR are used by families to commute.
2.) They are not driven at the speed that we see hear in Ghana. Infact, i was surprised to see them being used as COMMERCIAL vehicles.
3.) Those people doing the conversion from right to left are not professionals who understands the technical implications of the work they do. Some of their work looks so dirty and unprofessional.
Myself been a Technician trained in Japan by Mitsubishi Motors, thinks that when the conversions are done, the vehicles should be examined by a professional third party garage to make sure all technical and safety details are adhered to. It is after these examination that the authorities must decide to allow it to used as private or commercial.

If those vehicles have been banned from plying as long distance (intercity) commercial vehicles, it does not mean they cannot be used as intracity commercial vehicles.
The other road safety issue that has to be tackled urgently is the issue of broken down vehicles being left on the roads and without proper warning or triangle. And the solution should not involve any new tax or levy. Owners/drivers of broken down vehicles must pay.

Any RHD vehicle shipped to Ghana to be changed to LHD to suit way of driving is a threat. There goes a lot of mechanical changes/faults on the steering wheel as soon as the change is effected, rendering the vehicle less safer than it originally was.
Ghanaians because of greed and love for money would protest anything that goes against their diabolical ways of making money. Unless strict measures are put in place to use such vehicles as they are originally manufactured, the use of changed steering place from right to left to suit driving style of the country must be discouraged otherwise, a total import ban on such vehicles must be implemented.
Stop praising those illiterate mechanics at Kokompe and Kumasi Magazine for being able to change the wheels of those vehicles to make it look as if it's safe to drive in.
No sensible person will opt for such changed steering wheel vehicle unless they don't value their life.

How many people have died in Ghana through accidents caused by the vehicles in question? The businessmen are only interested in as much as they get their money. Why don't they convert the steering wheel to left-handed drive before shipping them to Ghana in Japan? Those drivers were already in business before such vehicles were introduced in Ghana. We should comprise their welfare and their families to that of the passengers?

Handling also becomes less stable as you push beyond around 50 mph—you need a firmer grip on the steering, and it doesn’t feel especially confident. Cornering performance is quite limited too, so taking bends at speed can feel unsafe.
That said, where it really shines is in urban environments: it’s economical, practical, and very well-suited for low-speed city driving.

Less stable? Any car with bad suspensions(lower arms, ball joints etc) even just wheel alignments will be less stable in steering control during high speeds.
You guys should be more circumspect in these judgements, it should be based on facts, results and technical biasness rather to personal emotions. This is engineering, technical and design we are talking about here!
