The first batch of 100 out of 300 twenty-nine-seater buses have arrived in Ghana as part of government efforts to address the public transport crisis that has plagued major cities in recent months.
The Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced the development on social media, sharing pictures of the newly arrived buses.
He disclosed that the 100 buses form part of a larger procurement of 300 vehicles, with a second batch of 100 expected to arrive in August 2026 and the final batch in November 2026.
"In the meantime, 100 29-seater buses have arrived in the country to ease recent road transport challenges. They form part of 300 procured for the purpose.
"Another batch of 100 will arrive in August with the last batch of 100 arriving in November," he posted.

The arrival comes after months of growing frustration among commuters, particularly in Accra, where vehicle shortages have resulted in long waiting times at bus stations and inflated fares as passengers compete for limited available transport.
The 29-seater buses are expected to provide immediate relief on some of the city's busiest routes.
