There were scenes of deep grief and quiet reflection at Obomeng as family, friends, and dignitaries gathered to honour the memory of the late Edward Omane Boamah.
At the heart of the ceremony was his mother, Madam Leticia, who struggled to hold back emotion as she spoke publicly about the pain of losing her son in a tragic plane crash.
Her words carried both heartbreak and faith, as she leaned on her belief in God to cope with the loss.
“It’s not easy for me but I know God will take care,” she said, conveying both sorrow and hope.
The ceremony, held at the Obomeng ICT Centre, was not only a moment of mourning but also one of tribute.
An Artificial Intelligence training facility was officially named in Dr Omane Boamah’s honour, a reflection of his passion for technology and national development.
A statue was also unveiled to celebrate his life and contributions, capturing the legacy he leaves behind in governance and innovation.
President John Dramani Mahama, traditional authorities and members of the community were present to pay their respects, underscoring the national significance of the late statesman’s work.
Through her grief, Leticia described her son as a forward-thinking leader whose commitment to public service and technological advancement set him apart.
She expressed hope that his life and work would continue to inspire younger generations.
