This is how far we have come concerning the acceptance of illegal mining. We are just pathetic for allowing these miscreants or anti-societal elements trying to dictate the pace of our dear nation, and the blame falls on the toes of our stupid politicians and our traditional authorities who care more about their stomachs than the wellbeing of our mother land Ghana.
Boko Haram in Nigeria started like this and they are challenging the federal government of Nigeria.
At times, some people comment that nobody can stop illegal mining, and while I disagree with them, at times they are right because of how foolish we are as 30 million disgruntled idiots who cannot uproot something pushing them to extinction.

How did we get here ?
Galamsey had previously always existed on a small scale.
However an inescapable fact is that the last administration under Nana Addo contributed greatly to mess we are in. He brought in LI 2462 allowing mining in forest reserves. They point blank refused to listen to the cries of environmental groups.
This was like a green light to all who were watching, that destruction of our environment for gold was acceptable. So heartbreaking. We all saw it happening in real time.
Nana Addo also presided over the explosion in mining licenses to family, friends and party members. They all acquired excavators and Chinese Changfans. Remember that the leader sets the tone. He effectively became the godfather of galamsey, and our chiefs and those immediately around him, who should have known better, remained silent because they were also complicit. All political parties had individuals involved. Greed and corruption ruled the day. Greed nkoaa.
A truly dark, disappointing and regrettable chapter in Ghana’s history. We are now fighting to undo the unbelievable damage. We pray that the cancer of galamsey will be cured. We are killing ourselves and our once beautiful blessed country and we will have self inflicted health problems for generations to come.
