The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has shed light on Ghana’s increasing commitment to integrating technology into the classroom, pointing to the introduction of artificial intelligence tools in senior high schools as a key milestone.

Speaking at the 4th Africa Education Summit on Thursday, March 19, 2026, he painted a picture of a country actively embracing digital transformation in a bid to make learning more accessible, improve teaching quality, and ensure fairness across the education system.

According to him, the government’s vision goes beyond simply introducing technology; it is about ensuring that no student is left behind.

“As Minister for Education, I remain firmly convinced that education must function as the great equaliser within our societies. Educational technology, therefore, must not become the privilege of a few institutions or urban communities,” he stated.

“It must serve as a powerful instrument for expanding opportunity for every child, irrespective of geographical location or socio-economic circumstances,” he added.

Iddrisu explained that this vision is already taking shape through a number of coordinated digital initiatives spearheaded by the Ministry of Education and its key agencies.

These efforts, he noted, are helping to bridge longstanding gaps between urban and rural schools, while equipping students with the skills needed for a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.
