In geograpical term,it represents the Western region and the second area for the earlier European settlement.
From Elmina,the Portuguese moved to the West coast building a castle in Axim followed by Shama.
The Dutch and English followed the same policy because the banks of Pra river and Ankobra river were sources of gold business just as today.
Therefore,Sekondi was the largest business city in the Gold Coast.
Hon.Grace Ayensu is still loved by Sekondians.
