Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe, an aide to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has responded to a circulating AI-generated video on social media that depicts the former President in a controversial parody.
In a statement, Tagoe said his attention has been drawn to the video reportedly created and shared by Samuel Nii Okantey, also known as Kpakpo Nii Gbemi.
According to him, the video, presented as a literary parody, features simulated representations of former President Akufo-Addo, current President John Dramani Mahama, and former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He explained that in the video, President Mahama is portrayed as placing a call to former President Akufo-Addo, urging him to advise Dr Bawumia—who is suggested in the parody to be a future president—to prioritize Ghana’s development, safeguard the legacies of the current administration, and continue projects that may remain incomplete.

However, Tagoe noted that the video goes further to depict former President Akufo-Addo demanding a mobile money payment before agreeing to deliver the message to Dr Bawumia.
The parody also portrays President Mahama agreeing to send GH₵10,000, after which the former President is again depicted calling Dr Bawumia and demanding payment before relaying the message.
Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe said the portrayal is unacceptable and deeply concerning.
“While parody and satire are recognised forms of creative expression, the depiction in this instance goes beyond harmless humour and unfairly portrays former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as an itinerant bribe taker,” he stated.
According to him, such a characterization is derogatory and has the potential to mislead the public while damaging the reputation and integrity of a former Head of State who served the Republic with distinction.
He therefore urged the creator of the video to immediately remove the content from all platforms and render an unqualified apology to the former President.
Tagoe warned that failure to comply with the request could compel the former President’s office to consider appropriate legal remedies, including action for defamation.
