Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has threatened to disclose details about the yet-to-be-identified woman who allegedly occupied the seat of former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, during the 2022 budget approval in Parliament.

According to a March 9, 2026 report by 3news.com, the minister, while speaking about his tenure as a former Minority Leader in Parliament, stated that he would soon reveal the details and let Ghanaians know the truth.

Adwoa Safo breaks silence on long absence in parliament, begs for forgiveness

Though Haruna Iddrisu did not mention the said MP’s name, he gave some hints.

“… Someday I’ll reveal to Ghanaians; I hear who was present, who was not present. That lady MP knows herself, who probably was not available to take a vote that particular day, certainly not Haruna Iddrisu.

“The lady MP knows whom she spoke to, I probably wasn’t aware. But as Minority Leader, I needed to protect her seat, that was why I never wanted people to know who was that person,” he was quoted to have said by 3news.com.

It will be recalled that during the passage of the 2021 Budget Statement and Fiscal Policy in November 2021, Adwoa Safo’s seat was occupied by a woman many alleged wasn’t her.

Adwoa Safo finally resumes parliamentary duties

The matter sparked a national debate on social and traditional media for weeks. It was a serious topic due to the Hung Parliament at the time, where the absence of one member could have blocked the budget from being passed.
