Bagbin know Big Men don't ride bicycles in the village. You are asking a chief to ride a bike. It is demeaning to his useless pride.
It is good for MPs to exercise and they should be biking to work if they can, it's good for the heart.
Why should anyone like speaking don't know he should be calling for more houses for MPs close to Parliament. If all MPs live riding distance to parliament, they will ride to work like UK MPs and Prime Minister.
It is because MPs ride to work, the distance.
Nothing to do with UK or it's MPs.

@Prince. You are on point. When it comes to salaries and other benefits, we compare, but when it comes to other matters that won't benefit them (the politicians), we are told to ignore.
We adopted the idea of not disciplining (including corporal punishment) basic and second cycle students from the West, it was never part of our culture, and now we all can see the level of violence within those institutions. Let’s do the analysis. After 2017(the time corporal punishment was abolished), has indiscipline within our basic to second cycle institutions decreased, has it remained the same, or it has increased? Certainly it has increased astronomically to a level that cannot be contained. Previously it was rare to hear that a police officer is going to arrest a student at the basic or second cycle institution, but now what do we see?
The idea of riding bicycles to work is not only done by MPs in the West, but also medical doctors, in Ghana, if you see a medical doctor riding bicycle to work, that will be the trend of the day. At times is pathetic to see the beggar trying to live a more luxurious life than the one he goes to beg from.
The president JDM is making a lot of effort to tackle none communicable diseases(NCDs), including hypertension, diabetes and the likes, which are so rampant in Ghana.
Look at most (if not all) of our MPs, the office is fully air-conditioned, the vehicle (V8) fully air-conditioned, the resident, you can't count the number of ACs, sedentary life everyday. Now how do you expect the president to achieve this objective of tackling NCDs.
There was this proposal that was made by the NPP government after winning the 2016 elections, that all government appointees, including MPs would be using Toyota corollas for their official duties, which was a step in the right direction by way of reducing public spending, and that the former president Akuffo Addo was using his private vehicle for official duties and we were all happy to hear that, little did we know that it was all lies and deceit. They later turned themselves into Lords, expecting those (the electorates) who gave them the power to worship them, then the exit was shown them.
There's one thing the politician has been missing, just do what those who give you the power want. Stop being arrogant, stop being extravagant and I tell you, any day, any time the ballot box is placed there for elections, is a landslide victory for you. No strenuous campaigning, whatsoever.

Yes, you don’t need bicycles but you need cars, ok means of transportation. Mr. Speaker, how many vehicles are seized daily at our ports? Why can’t you parliamentarians utilize this by using the already seized vehicles to reduce cost? Or simple, a motorcycle plus 3000$ for each parliamentarian! This money covers your transportation costs for the whole term you serve in parliament. You can decide to add something on top of the 3000$ offered to buy a preferable vehicle.
