Central Bank buying of gold is the part of the reason for the sharp rise in the price of gold. The other glaring reason is of course the rapidly deteriorating Iran-USA/Israel war which has virtually become a full Middle Eastern Regional war. Countries that are rapidly increasing their gold reserves are doing so as a kind of insurance because of the worsening geopolitical situation in the world. First it was the Ukraine-Russia war but within the last fortnight a far bigger threat has emerged following the attack on Iran. The collapse of major economies with no significant alternative sources of energy is inevitable in the light of the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz by the Iranians. The expected rapid collapse of the Iranian regime by their enemies has not materialised and instead the Iranians have been dealing significant retaliatory blows to their foes even as they themselves continue to absorb substantial damage.
If the reports circulating that seem to suggest that Iran still has thousands of missiles available including some shockingly very sophisticated ones are true, then this does not bode well for regional foes and their allies who expected a “cake walk” when they attacked Iran.
IT IS NOW A REGIONAL WAR WITH AN EVER-GROWING DANGER OF EVOLVING INTO SOMETHING EVEN MORE DANGEROUS AND SINISTER. There are some military commentators who see this conflict yet another proof that a THIRD WORLD WAR HAS ALREADY COMMENCED AND IS ONLY JUST AT A "LOW INTENSITY PHASE" WHICH WILL INEVITABLE BECOME VERY HIGH INTENSITY, GLOBAL AND EVENTUALLY INVOLVE GREAT MILITARY POWERS. This threshold will be crossed once nuclear weapons (even tactical ones) are used. If this happens all bets are off and we will likely very quickly see retaliation with nuclear weapons.
