At 11 45 pm, when Parliament closed, six CPP Comrades ie Kwame Nkrumah, MP for Accra Central and the Prime Minister, Komla Agbeli Gbedema, MP for Keta and Minister of Finance, Kojo Botsio, MP for Gomua West and Minister of Trade and Labour, lawyer Archie Casely Hayford, MP for South Birim and Minister of Communications, Nathaniel Arzacko Welbeck, MP for Cape Coast and Minister of Works and Krobo Edusei MP for Sekyere East and Minister without Portfolio all trooped to the Old Polo Ground where Kwame Nkrumah's statue now stands. There they mounted the specially erected podium. At 12 midnight the Post Office Siren wailed and Krobo Edusei, the announcer, yelled "Tsoobuei" and the crowd responded "yeei" Then Kwame Nkrumah thundered " Agoo wo nnnye koom na wontsie me kakra..At long last the battle has ended. Ghana your beloved country is free for ever..." Please so was 5th March 1957 to 6th March 1957.We salute Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Komla Agbeli Gbedema, Kojo Botsio, lawyer Archie Casely Hayford, Nathaniel Arzacko Welbeck and Krobo Edusei, whose sister Ama Serwa murdered in cold blood for donating themselves towards the Independence of our country
