Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South Dayi and Majority Chief Whip, has urged Duke Ofori-Atta, brother of Ghana’s former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta, to convince him to return to the country and allow due process to take its course.

His call comes in response to Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin’s plea for the Majority leadership to stop displaying photos of the former minister in Parliament.

Afenyo Markin had described the act as inappropriate and criticised the actions of the Majority Caucus.

Reacting to the appeal, Dafeamekpor turned to Duke Ofori-Atta, who was present in the chamber, and suggested that the best way to resolve the matter was for him [Duke Ofori-Atta] to encourage his brother to come back to Ghana.

“I am pained that this matter is having adverse impact on Duke. Because I can gauge the mood, but it is about his elder brother’s conduct. Everybody is saying come and account for your(sic). I believe that if he were here and going through the processes, nobody will mention his name. So, on this note, I want to assure him that we will not antagonise him, especially when his sensibilities are concerned. But we want to urge him to urge his big brother to come home,” he said.
