So sooo sad. Such avoidable deaths happening in Ghana. Confiscating vehicles, jailing owners and drivers of vehicles that are left without proper, standard warning. We need to have effective towing system, which is not necessarily attached to any tax or levy (damn evil, corrupt politicians, who try to profit from every situation/circumstance). We need to have an effective system that enable citizens call and report on wrongly parked vehicles to relevant authorities/institutions in various districts, municipalities, etc. Too much reckless behaviours and lawlessness on Ghanaian roads. Why?
Mr President, the Parliament of Ghana and all relevant institutions, please let there be real action on this matter now. #Ghanaian lives matter. #Regular citizens lives matter.

I agree with you 100% about everything you're saying but what about the driver? A good driver must be able to see 10/20/50, even 100 meters ahead otherwise they don't deserve to drive. How can you speed into the unknown? Our roads are terrible I know, the lighting is poor even if any, and that's why our drivers have to be even more careful. But all they're interested in is to speedily dispatch one passenger to pick up the next one. And in this instance, if the lady was running late, she herself might have been telling the driver to hurry. May she Rest in Perfect Peace but we don't seem to place enough value on life in Ghana. Sorry

When you say it they will insult you and threaten not to vote for you if you happen to be a political figure. How can you leave a broken down vehicle on the road even for 10 minutes??? Vehicles must not be left on the road and it is illegal to even repair them there or even on the shoulders. They must be towed immediately to safe areas. Let the insurance companies cover the towing fees and settle whatever it is at the backend. If you are caught without insurance the sanctions must be severe to deter others. Most Ghanaians talk a lot and are not law abiding .

The vehicles on these gh roads are not inspected for their road worthiness and therefore should be on these roads in the first place. Thats what these foolish gh leaders need to deal with. Before a vehicle can be driven on any public roads. Dvla must make sure that the vehicle passes a safety check from a locensed reputable mechanic and gets a sticker..after that, dvla will register the vehicle and obtain all the necessary insurance information from the driver and save it..if this happens in every region, city and constituency in afuom Ghana you won't have cars breaking down due to faulty battery or transmission, engine failure etc left on the roads to cause gruesome accidents like this. You have these same vehicles in places like Canada UT hardly will you see cars abandoned in the middle of thebroads b3cause they are broken down..the leaders ooooo

A better approach would have been to allow several towing companies to join race and let each vehicle owner select/decide on which towing company to deal with. That would ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness. This is how it is done in countries that enforce .
I live in one of such countries: the govt does not tow cars. Private companies do it. If a car is broken down and the owner leaves it anywhere, without contacting a towing company, that person will be in BIG BIG trouble. If a vehicle breaks down in the middle of the road, immediately place warning triangle 50-150 meters (depending on type of road) behind the vehicle, then call the police to control the traffic. Finally call a registered towing service.

It’s equally a bad idea to select your own towing company as their non availability in a timely manner would also compound the problem and render the spirit behind the towing useless. I agree that several companies could have been awarded contracts but then they network to toe in such a way that ‘we’ see them as one entity performing the service. In short, one number is called and service is assigned.

Most road accidents in Ghana are caused by broken down vehicles abandoned on our roads while drivers navigate around these vehicles. The road and safety ministry should pass laws that will require broken down vehicles on these roads to be towed away within a specific period of time. The road and safety department should have their own tow trucks plying our major roads to give the needed assistance to these drivers for a charge . More over telephone services should be linked to the tow service department to be called for assistance. Every vehicle should have the triangle objects in them to be used to signal a broken down vehicle instead of using tree branches laid on the roads the signal a broken down vehicle. That is way ward and very colonial.

We always blame politicians. We have lost our sense of reason and responsibility. We are reckless and blame tbe politician. We dont obey speed limits and other road signs. We wrongly overtake and do all manner of reckless things on the road and blame the politicians. Politicians will not put sense in our heads.
The bus was broken down and shd have been towed. But am sure otber drivers passed the same road without running into the bus except the Uber driver. Why was the uber driver over speeding in town? Didn't his vehicle have light? Was he asleep? Was he fidgeting with his phone and not focusing on the road?
Much as the broken down bus caused the accident, the biggest cause is the over speeding uber driver
A precious life has been lost bcos of the foolishness of the the bus and uber drivers.
Rest in peace dear beautiful lady. Lets all use our senses on the road.
