Ghana should watch out, the good of Ghana outside will soon erode by what is happening now. This children will start travelling for daily bread and will end showing bad character outside. Good thing is that they will be jailed

  For instance "For many observers, the solution lies not in returning to hash punishment(don't even know what they mean by hash punishment), but in rebuilding a shared understanding (shared understanding means what?) between schools and families about what discipline truly means."
  So you realise that the whole write-up is vague, contains no substance, contains no solutions to any problems.
  Let's ask our parliamentarians, how many of them did not receive lashes or were not caned during their schooling days, how has that destroyed them?. Maybe is through the caning that they are who they are today.
  Is not all policies from the West that befit the Black or if you like the African. Even some of the policies they make trouble them as well.
  The act of carrying weapons and all manner of harmful equipment to schools was already happening in the West, until recently we start to witness such acts in our various second cycle institutions after the abolishment of caning or punishment.
  We cannot continue to copy the West all the time. Now what do we witness, the West are forcing us to embrace LGBTQ(God forbid), telling us is human right (which is actually human left).
  Those days a student would see the teacher and begin to assess himself/herself before the teacher approached. What do we see nowadays, students are seen trading blows with their teachers in schools, for some of the teachers who may not be strong enough and are floored by the student, this student receives applause from the colleagues who standby to watch the bout. Even if such a student does well in his/her examinations, may not fit well in society, because wherever you find yourself within the society, there are elders/superiors that you need to show some respect to. So if you are at school fighting your teachers, how do you become useful to the society you may find yourself.
  So in conclusion, and in my opinion, caning/punishment should be reintroduced in our various schools (basic to second cycle institutions) and officers who have been designated to play supervisory roles should not only sit and enjoy the comfort of their offices, but should endeavour to get to the fields (if they can, everyday) to find out for themselves what is happening on the ground.
  It is true that there may be some excesses with respect to corporal punishment, but I think is better than withdrawing it to now give way for students to carry weapons to schools and cause harm to their teachers and colleagues.
