Ghanaians must learn to argue the issues at hand. In this particular case, the issue is the terrorist attack on ghanaian merchants. The issue you should have been concerned with in your comment is whether the view expressed by Kwesi is valid. Simple discussions in Ghana always turn into a meaningless an NDC- NPP debate. I think Kwesi Pratt is rather over trivializing what the former defense minister said. I personally listened to the tape and he never said the attack was because we don't have a substantive defense minister in Ghana. Instead he stressed on what a substantive defense minister would have done in this situation. Neither did he say what he said was the exact reason for the attack, but in security issues you have to analyze every possibility. You may disagree with the former defense minister but you can't take away the fact that the rebels in Burkina are fighting their government and it's allies. You can't also take away the fact that president Mahama, a democratically elected president, made a big political mistake by inviting a leader who just staged a coup to his swearing in ceremony. That was definitely an endorsement! There were several ways Ghana could have maintained our neighborhood with BF without that needless display of publicity. I wouldn't bother about what system of government is in power in BF if the citizens are okay with what they have, but it was an error for the president of Ghana (considered as the beacon of democracy in Africa) to invite a coup leader who is under ECOWAS sanctions to his swearing in. If you don't agree with these basic facts, politics is eating the essence of you. Though I don't take what Nitiwul said as the true reasons, what he said nonetheless should be considered as part of the investigation into the unfortunate event. What the rebels did to the Ghanaian traders wasn't sensible, so Kwesi Pratt shouldn't think the reasons for the attack are the sensible ones he can think of! The reasons may just be as 'senseless' as what Nitiwul gave. In security intelligence nothing is senseless! You don't expect rebels to think with diplomacy and 'Pratt' sense.
