The issue of forcing Medical Doctors and Staff to some deprived, uncomfortable and hostile areas needs to be done with diplomacy and wisdom. Do you think that Madical Doctors will accept postings easily to places like BAWKU and other very hostile areas? Did they have free Medical training in Ghana? No. Some of them even had problems with accommodation as Medical Students.
The Minister should use wisdom and not compulsion. Newly trained Nurses and Medical Doctors can be given low Interest loans to purchase vehicles that are not expensive and then made to sign a bond to remain at the areas that they have been posted for a number of years.
The Minister and communities should make the areas that Medical Professionals are posted to should be comfortable for them.
Let me tell you that Ghanaian trained Medical Doctors and Nurses are about the best in Africa. They are wanted everywhere, including even Europe, Canada and the USA. Let them cross over to even our neighboring countries and they shall be paid in US Dollars. In the end, Ghana will lose because we have spent a lot of money in training them.
I served a number of years before I left Ghana legally for Greener Pastures. I have retired but still work in the Educational Service of the country where I am. My 401K that can be paid to me is more than enough than any Government employer can be paid. Let our Ghanaian Trained Medical Professionals just jump to any West African Country and the Person will be paid in the equivalent of USD.
The young Medical Professionals are very young and can be treated very comfortably and they shall work at deprived and uncomfortable areas. I remember going to Dumbai to sell my books at the Teacher Training College there and falling sick. The town had a very nice modern hospital but there was only one qualified and Certified Medical Medical Doctor. The rest left for elsewhere in Ghana, Nigeria and other places in Ghana. Don’t force the young Medical Professionals, work with them and pamper them with just incentives that young professionals will want. What about giving Nurses Motorbikes so that they can ride to work from any more comfortable towns where they can choose to stay.
Let me respectfully ask the Minister if he or she would want to stay at Kyebi Panor, Asuboi or OTWE BEWE ADUA and work in Accra? Mr. Minister, do you know the number of Medical Staff that are Africans and are needed in South Africa, Namibia, and even in Togo?
Mr. Minister, work with the Newly Trained Nurses and Doctors as well as the other Healthcare Workers. Your treat is very useless. Let there be an advertisement for Medical Professionals from USA and Canada and see how many Healthcare Workers Ghana shall lose. This is the time for negotiations, understanding and compromise and not bullying.

The Professionals who worked in Ghana as Peace Corps were paid by the USA in Ghana. Note that they were only given stipends here but were paid huge sums of money in the USA. Before I left Ghana, I worked as an educationist and also worked in Orientation Programs for the US Citizens who came to Ghana to learn how to become comfortable in Ghana. They went back home with an accumulated money waiting for them in the USA.. And do you know that some of them were treated specially by Uncle Sam because they worked for the CIA and spied on Ghana when Efo Julor John Rawlings and Boakye Djan were foolishly fooling around. Those US Volunteers knew more about Ghana than even Government Officials knew. Uncle Sam doesn’t do things for free.

Let the Carribeans open their gates and see the number of Healthcare Professionals and other workers including Teachers and Maintenance Workers who shall leave Ghana. The Minister is barking garbage and holy shit.

Stop running your mouth and goofing around. Do you know of any Medical Professionals who will want to work at Bawku? Possibly your family and deranged friends will want to. I will never allow any of my close family members and friends to work at places like Bawku, Sabsugu , and Nyive in the Volta region. Let the Minister send his close family members to go and work at Bawku.
