Their profiles are weak and they don't have any better research output if you check Scopus so I don't know where this fake and bogus ranking from. Even the VC knows he has only paper in Scopus and his staff with the highest number of publications is 37 in Scopus. So where is the research dominance. Check the names of traditional universities in Ghana even the recent ones of UENR and UHAS and their profiles to see if this KsTU is close to them in terms of research volume and citations?

From the link you provided, kindly check their names on Google Scholar to find out their research outputs. There are researchers out there who are publishing good papers in leading journals from emeraild, elsevier, springer, taylor and francis, among others.

  Any journal index SSCI is likely to be indexed in Scopus. It's not rocket science. KsTU is poor in research and that is it. Their research output is not even close to their counter parts in Ho and Takoradi not to talk Traditional Universities. SSCI is Web of Science index and when you pull the data together there are likely to be the same cos any journal with Impact Factor in WoS either SSCI or whatever is also indexed Scopus.

  Google Scholar is useless in academia in the first place. No serious institution would rely on Google scholar to make a claim of research as all predatory journals are also index by Google scholar. Infact Google scholar can easily be gamed to increase citations by just writing anything and citing your papers and post on an online research link. It's not rocket science. Any serious institution will not even use Google scholar to make a case knowing full well it's deficiencies. Even with that, scholars in Ho and Takoradi Technical Universities are better than Kumasi Technical University. As for Traditional Universities, KsTU is not close to them in any way even with the new universities like UENR and UHAS not to talk of the oldies of UCC, UG, KNUST and the likes. You just take a professor in KsTU and do head to head comparison of their Google scholar, Scopus and WoS and see the gap. They nothing in research in terms of volume and quality (citations by better journals)

  Look at how these young traditional universities are dwarfing the so called QS top tier university research output. The journals published by these guys are also having better IF than these polytechnics.
  
  This is even young traditional universities, so is there a reason to compared against the big guys when their small boys are dwarfing the research output of these so called technical university?
