When a leader talks about the benefit of something ignoring the dangers that comes after the benefit, see that leader as a fool without equal.
John Mahama is talking about the benefit of gold but ignorantly, does not see the dangers of illegal mining in Ghana as a whole, that exposes Mahama as a fool without equal. It is like giving someone a drug overdose thinking that it will help but.
History has it that the early human settled along the banks of rivers because water is what sustain life but in Ghana, gold rather sustain our livelihood so, the urgency placed on gold over water is something beyond description.

Haiti cut all their trees for firewood and now they bear some catatrosphic environmental problems. Remember they only destroyed their national vegetation, but the wrath they face now is unsurmountable coupled with their lawless society!

Out of reverence, people like Prof Bokpin, have escaped the scrutiny of what he really stands for in the affairs of State.
But for those who have observed him closely, he comes out as someone with lack of conviction and with a history of prevarication for those who have followed his line of presentations on the Economy and Finance.
No one needs to scratch the surface to reveal what is underneath in this man's case ; attention seeking and opportunism.
We all heard his pronouncements during the previous administration on the economy where he was unabashedly, in total agreement with government programmes and policies albeit, controversial.
When the new administration assumed office in 2025, we all saw the sudden switch of his presentations even when the matter was contrary to the view he previously supported.
Perhaps out of frustration because of a perceived non engagement by the appointing authority, he has decided to go on a tangent to put the current administration in bad light.
Despite the visible and reported stories of successful efforts at dealing with galamsey which have been attested by even some anti galamsey crusaders, Prof Bokpin, out of parochial interest is all out to discourage the total efforts.
Very Very selfish man!

Bokpin, now tell us how should the government fight galamsey besides what NAIMOS, blue water guards, Forestry Commission and others are doing. The fact that galamsey is still going on does not mean nothing is been done. Do you know what the situation would have been if all these efforts are not in place? We have been fighting arm robbery over the years but we still have arm robbery happening. So please offer suggestions to improve the present situation and stop the doomsday preaching. After all the two main parties NPP and NDC have all have the chance to resolve the galamsey issue but it is not abating. This should tell you that just blaming the current government is just not the way.
