You did it with free SHS..A booming economy is when consumers are able to spend and spend.....why are people spending, buying in Dubai, UAE? You get an organic economy not an artificial economy...it's still why things are so expensive. This is how China's economy grew.
Subsidise petrol to make it cost less, this will drive down prices and encourage alot and alot job creation, more consumer spend for you to make your money back through taxation.
Ghanaians will have alot to money to spend.
left to save for projects.
It also strengthens the cedi against the dollar, inflation...so you don't need to artificially pump billions of dollars to create artificial strong cedi. Instead use it to subsidise petrol. Cedi will stabilise naturally.
5 yrs jail and a fine for smugglers. For benefit of Ghana and Ghanaians ONLY
They focused on dollar and not petrol and wonder why economy never work
You get 2 for 1 bargain..Ghana what are we doing struggling? lack of knowledge

Pass the foreigner rental bill....also start Immigration raids, sentencing these nigerian scammers, etc swiftly &publicly as a deterrent.....
All Landlords renting to foreigners for stay must register their tenants details at the nearest police station. Invest in the infrastructure- you won't be disappointed. You did it with Ghana card.
This is done in China to prevent crime and abuse by foreigners in China. Failure to comply is 6 months in jail and a fine.
What foreign criminal wanting to do ashawo, scam, etc would want their details at the police station? So Ghana becomes unattractive for nigerian crimess
-Gov't should fund monthly workshops to educate Ghana Immigration on WHY they must secure our borders-this is lack of education and ignorance. Lol...Your best budget this year is your "Training & Personal Development Budget".Train for better daily income this year - Phones break every day. Smartphone repair & accessories is one of the few skills that still pays daily, even in hard times. People fix them the same day, that's money changing hands fast. Many unemployed people, even those with jobs — are learning this skill quietly to support themselves, or gifting the book to train siblings, relatives, or community youths. Buy copies to empower others. GET Chukky Oparandu’s guide - it breaks it down clearly for beginners: repairs, flashing, accessories sales — the skill opens doors into IT careers. No big capital. Just a skill you earn from once you apply it. If you’re planning ahead for 2026, this is one move people are already making. Culture Is Not a Costume — It’s Diplomacy
Mahama’s clothing choice was intentional, not accidental.
Traditional or culturally grounded attire at international events is soft power. It communicates identity, confidence, and continuity. From the Japanese kimono to the Saudi thobe, from India’s kurta to Ghana’s kente—no serious nation apologizes for its heritage. If anything, global audiences respond better to authenticity than borrowed suits with borrowed confidence.
While some critics shout online, Wode Maya shows what real national branding looks like—telling African stories with pride and consistency. He proves that promoting your country is not about tearing others down, but about showing up prepared, informed, and intentional.
If you feel your country isn’t being “represented enough,” the solution isn’t mocking another leader’s culture—it’s investing in your own storytelling, tourism, and creative diplomacy. You don’t dim another person’s light to make yours brighter.
The Karma Conversation: A Mirror Moment for Ghanaians
.Yes, there’s a lesson here for Ghanaians too.
When King Mswati III visited Ghana, some Ghanaian journalists and social media users crossed from critique into ridicule—mocking attire, traditions, and personal life. That wasn’t accountability; that was cultural intolerance dressed up as commentary.
It’s valid to question leadership records, governance, and inequality. It’s lazy—and dangerous—to mock culture, clothing, or customs. Once we confuse the two, we lose moral credibility.
Sensational bloggers thrive on outrage, not understanding.
Their business model is clicks, not context. Correcting every provocation only feeds the machine. The smarter response is education, perspective, and restraint.
8. Africa doesn’t need culture police—it needs cultural confidence.
Respecting difference, defending heritage, and choosing substance over spectacle is how we grow—online and offline.
In short:
Clothes can spark conversation, but character and culture sustain respect. Let’s argue smarter, not louder—and remember that dignity travels farther than insults ever will.

As a teenager, I read a book authored by Zambia's first president, Kenneth Kaunda, entitled Zambia Shall Be Free. However, I have just realized, sadly, that decades later, Zambia is still bound with colonial chains, with it's tradition and culture completely erased. Obviously, with this colonial mentality, Zambia is nowhere near free. Kenneth Kaunda must be moving in his grave. We can only pray for our Zambian brothers and sisters. They need urgent emancipation from mental slavery! I will choose fugu over suit and tie any day because I am a true African.

I fully agree with the Zambians. He cannot go on a State visit where he had to inspect a guard of honor wearing a blue/black jeans. How African is the jeans? Batakari doesn't look elegant or ceremonial. He could as well dress in the attire which he worn when he was sworn in as President of Ghana. That was very elegant looking attire. Alternatively, he could dress in a "Polical Suit" (I don't know if it is still called that way) which is internationally recognized as an African attire. His appearance when inspecting the guard of honor was shabby and very unpresidential. I fully understand that Zambians felt offended.

Believe me if the idea is to market Batakari to the outside world I am 100 % certain that not many foreigners will buy Batakari to wear when they visit Ghana. The reason is because it does not look elegant ( I know some will feel offended to hear this). Furthermore, Batakari is made out of heavy fabric/textile which leads to sweating and very uncomfortable to wear when temperature is high.

Ladies and gentlemen the trousers is not Jeans but Blue material trousers. I salute first of all the managers of President John Dramani Mahama on his outfit choices. Once the heat is on this particular one permit to dare say that it is a fantastic symbol of Panafricanism Ghana is the capital of Africa unity. The President must at all times portray African culture and in fact clothes and of course African fabric especially those fabric originating from Ghana is what the President must wear speak and send messages of Africa unity and solidarity and as well as promoting intra African trade. Ladies and gentlemen, Honestly I find it very dangerous that we keep on bastardizing the President for wrong committed. I want to plead with all of us that we should resist the persistent harassment and disrespect some of you have been exhibiting towards the President it is not good for national development and growth becomes if you are grown and matured person you will not be attacking the President always for no crime committed. @Adombire Clinton. You wrote and I quote: "I find it very dangerous that we keep on bastardizing the President for wrong committed". I don't know how you were brought up but some of us were brought up to speak out when someone does wrong. In Africa, we over respect authority that's why the continent is as it is. We don't speak out even if we know that someone is wrong. It is this attitude in us which you are appealing that we should show towards the President. But you know what? Gone were the days when we were all mute. There is now a new generation of Africans who are saying we can't take it anymore, enough is enough. We therefore demand a lot from our leaders. Africa and Africans cannot continue to be a laughing stock on the Global arena. It is as simple as that.

I like the fact that President John Dramani Mahama is making strenuous efforts to promote Pan-Africanism and the African Global Agenda in contemporary times. Ghana under our current President is not just a watching spectator but an active participant in Global affairs. HE President Mahama in tandem with his Foreign Minister Samuel Ablakwa Okudjato haven't shied away in discussing issues bothering on political and socioeconomic injustices on the international stage . Even if such discerning voices in world affairs are treated as relatively marginal and intangible by Developed Countries, in effecting a meaningful impact in the international community, it is far better than just timidly recoiling back into our shelves from an African perspective. What sets General Iddi Amin Dada of Uganda apart even as a notorious Dictator, other than the likes of the Great Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara etc was their willingness to fight injustices against Africa. Ghana under President Mahama is doing very well in this regard. Okudjato was courageous in his condemnation of the unlawful invasion and seizure of the Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro and his Wife by the USA. Of late, the President have been vocal about African gaining its rightful place in the global market in fair deals in international trade, not tobe as usual controlled, exploited and cheated out of its vast natural resources. Breaking cultural barriers and promoting local services and goods within the continent like smock weaving and selling to enhance and strengthen the forex market in Africa is one key strategy to consider, to mitigate the impact of foreign fabrics like suits won by the Zambian President flooding the African Market.Nevertheless, the mocking of the beautiful smock won by the President which looks alien and strange to the Zambians is also an indication of poor trade ties and lack of free vibrant market within the African continent. It is a clear demonstration of failures of Regional and Continental Treaties intended to promote collaboration and cooperation in political and economic affairs including free market for trade in good and services. Hopefully petit and pragmatic actions such as dressing in a traditional African fabric like the Fugu as done by HE JDM will help achieve the vision of our Fore-bearers, a United Africa, through cross-cultural and trade exchanges.

Africa certainly has a very, very long road to travel to attain self-recognition if some of us see a traditional outfit worn by a foreign president as inferior because it doesn't look like what they consider to be 'normal'. Indeed, we shall continue to remain 'backward' if we should continue to think that the only acceptable outfit is the western type of outfit. In this regard, I'm wondering if they've ever seen the traditional dressing of the King of Eswathini. I think we better start calling that country as "Northern Rhodesia" since they seem more comfortable as someone else's colony.

Thank you Wode Maya for response and education. It means our fellow brothers and sisters are not up to date with fashion on this part of the world. Reminds me of the king of Eswathini who visited us.
Forgive their ignorance. They don't know that our President looks more elegant in suit than their President. By the way how will they feel if the Eswatini King visits Zambia
