  All Landlords renting to foreigners for stay must register their tenants details at the nearest police station. Invest in the infrastructure- you won't be disappointed. You did it with Ghana card.
  This is done in China to prevent crime and abuse by foreigners in China. Failure to comply is 6 months in jail and a fine.
  What foreign criminal wanting to do ashawo, scam, etc would want their details at the police station? So Ghana becomes unattractive for nigerian crimes.
  
  -Gov't should fund monthly workshops to educate Ghana Immigration on WHY they must secure our borders-this is lack of education and ignorance.   Subsidise petrol to make it cost less, this will drive down prices and encourage alot and alot job creation, more consumer spend for you to make your money back through taxation.
  Ghanaians will have alot to money to spend.
  left to save for projects.
  It also strengthens the cedi against the dollar, inflation...so you don't need to artificially pump billions of dollars to create artificial strong cedi. Instead use it to subsidise petrol. Cedi will stabilise naturally.
  5 yrs jail and a fine for smugglers. For benefit of Ghana and Ghanaians ONLY
  They focused on dollar and not petrol and wonder why economy never worked.

  Ghana has, for years, positioned itself as:
  a spiritual home for the African diaspora
  a gateway to Africa (Year of Return, Beyond the Return, PANAFEST, etc.)
  Within this framework, granting nationality or symbolic recognition to a high-profile diasporan is not unusual. Countries do this routinely:
  to strengthen diaspora attachment
  to create cultural ambassadors
  to signal openness and identity leadership
  The key question, therefore, is not:
  “Has IShowSpeed built a hospital or road?”
  But rather:
  “Does this advance Ghana’s long-term diaspora and global identity strategy?”
  A GHOne journalist who ignores this context is not analysing policy; she’s reacting emotionally.
  2. Soft Power: Influence Is Not Always Immediate or Tangible
  Soft power works through visibility, perception, and cultural pull, not instant material returns.
  IShowSpeed:
  commands tens of millions of young followers globally
  reaches demographics traditional diplomacy cannot
  creates organic, peer-to-peer exposure through content
  His visit put Ghana in front of a global youth audience without a tourism budget or ad campaign. That doesn’t mean the policy is beyond criticism—but dismissing it as “irrelevant” shows a failure to understand modern influence.
  A sane analysis would ask:
  How does this compare to Ghana’s tourism spend?
  What metrics should we use to evaluate cultural diplomacy?
  How do other countries leverage influencers strategically?
  Not asking these questions is intellectual laziness.
  3. Media Framing: From Analysis to Performance. I Prof Steven Adei once stated that Ghana needs 50 or less to discuss national issues because it appears every body with a mic or camera is talking and insulting…that GHOne was just insulting, Borgaria is always insulting and this kojo Sheldon is always finding ways to politicize everything, the Abronyes etc
  This is where Prof. Adei’s warning becomes painfully relevant.
  Their criticisms focus on:
  ridicule
  tone
  moral outrage
  spectacle
  Instead of:
  policy rationale
  legal basis for passport issuance
  comparison with past cases
  cost–benefit analysis
  That is media as performance, not media as public education.
  When journalists speak confidently while uninformed, they:
  mislead the public
  cheapen national discourse
  crowd out thoughtful voices who don’t want to engage in insults
  This is exactly why Prof. Adei says “you don’t hear people like Pro Frimpong Boateng etc with brains anymore.”
  4. Where Criticism Would Be Legitimate
  A balanced, informed critic could reasonably ask:
  Was due process followed?
  Does this set a clear precedent?
  Is the passport symbolic or legal citizenship?
  How does this fit into a broader, coherent diaspora policy?
  Those are serious questions.
  What we got instead was noise.
  5. Linking Back to Prof. Adei’s “50 Sane Voices”
  This episode proves his point.
  When:
  uninformed commentary dominates
  social media rewards outrage
  journalists confuse opinion with analysis
  Then public discourse is hijacked by people who speak loudly, not wisely.
  A country doesn’t need everyone talking.
  It needs a few credible, informed, courageous voices who:
  understand context
  explain complexity
  resist cheap populism
  If Ghana had even 50 such voices consistently shaping debate, controversies like this would educate the public instead of embarrassing us.
  Bottom line
  The IShowSpeed passport issue is less about the influencer and more about:
  the quality of Ghana’s public reasoning
  the responsibility of journalists
  and the silence of knowledgeable voices
  So yes—Prof. Adei was right.
  And this episode is a textbook example of what happens when sane voices retreat and uninformed ones take the microphone.
