So, granted that NDC made some mistakes during the first time it was in power from 2012-2016, the fact that it did not increase the nation's gold reserve was a mistake it has recognized, and that was why in its first year of its second term, it increased the nation's gold reserve from 8 tons inherited from Akuffo-Addo's NPP Administration to 32 tons within a year.
At least, the current NDC John Mahama's Administration, is doing everything it could to shore-up the Country's Gold Reserve.

Let me ask you this, if BOG was able to shore-up the Country's gold reserves upward to the tune of 37.1 tonnes within a year, and just within a quarter of a year, the reserves has been dwindled down to half i.e. 18.1 tonnes, as a concerned citizen, won't you want to know what caused or necessitated the sudden drop? I would, and that is why I agree with Dr. Bannor's demand for the Governor of BOG to explain to us-Ghanaians the circumstance that necessitated the change. So, as things stand now, it is up to the Governor to give us his explanation.

Changes in gold reserves maybe due to legitimate risk management decisions, or foreign currency liquidity management involving swaps with the IMF or other gold lending financial institutions.

It is about time Ghana has to get serious about gold reserves as a leading gold extractor in Mother Africa.

I suggest Ghana should nationalise some of these multinational gold mining Companies to get more gold to use for other purposes if she so need, but should not touch gold that has been reserved for the nation's future.

Ghana needs to build gold reserve capacity to stand shoulder with Countries like UK, France and the Likes.
