  Public offices are not part of spousal property rights, for automatic spousal takeover/inheritance on the death of one spouse.
  Nothing, however, stops this widow from contesting for the office, if she is qualified, competent and willing. The opportunity/position should be competitively contested and not given to her sympathetically on a silver platter. It should be an injustice meted out to her competitors, constituency and the country at large, if she gets the position on the basis of sympathy other than competence.
  If she is qualified, competent and willing, then she will be fresh limbs in parliament as compared to the recycled, old, tired and worn out limbs of her main contender.
  A section of the Ghanaian populace, which may randomly include those in that constituency, see the widow’s main contender as very cold and inequitable towards another widow. For his, alleged, “controversial” role in a recent and an ongoing legal tussle, involving some spousal property rights of a widow in the estate of her deceased husband.

Let her accept the words of Allah in good faith and then go through the religious right as established by her maker, her creator, her sustainer and above all by the one onto whom she will return to for accountability. Let her remember that her soul lies in the hands if Allah. Let her surrender the position for the sake of Allah. If she does it only to incurr the pleasure of Allah, Undoubtedly, Allah will surely reward her. My humble piece of advice.
