This miseducation minister will take us back 2,000 years. AI tools in Twi, Ewe, Dagbani? Mehn! In this age? English is the language of science and technology, medicine, architecture, agriculture, nanotechnology, AI, engineering, mathematics, etc. It is also the language of diplomacy and therefore a language of opportunity. It is a prerequisite for entry into every next higher ladder of education because it is the medium of instruction, and therefore the language we need mastery of. And this archaic man who doubles as a religious bigot says what! Hm!

French is the closest to English language in content and vocabulary. Notwithstanding, the French language is still galloping and gaping to keep pace with English language, especially in the sphere of informatics.
There are other simple things noteworthy of reference, though, and I will give an example: How do you call Sponge (used in washing dishes) in both Twi and Ewe? These traditional languages both don't have names for it but adjectives describing what they are.
Now, there's no linguistic standard in both Twi and Ewe to translate words like Electroencephalogram, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Phosphorescence, Light Amplification by stimulated Emission of Radiation, Inconsequential... give a thousand years, and these languages can't be developed because of their roots, basics and structure! Are you serious?
I am still trying hard to understand Haruna's traditional language penchants.

I think Ga and Hausa are among the most widely spoken languages in Ghana after Twi, so why not include them, it doesn't make sense to me.

I agree that Ga and Dangme deserve preservation and recognition. However, placing the blame solely on government and Google avoids the deeper issue at the heart of the matter.
Languages do not disappear because of policy; they disappear when they are no longer spoken at home. In many homes in Accra today, children are raised almost entirely in English, and some are even discouraged from speaking Ga. That is where the real decline begins.
Look at the Akan example. Twi remains strong not because of government intervention, but because Akans proudly speak it everywhere — at home, in markets, churches, media, and daily life. The people preserved the language first; technology followed.
Technology companies like Google choose languages based on usage, number of speakers, available content, and digital presence. If a language is not widely spoken, written, recorded, and used online, AI systems simply do not have enough material to learn from.
Preservation starts with the people before it reaches policy or technology. A language survives in the mouths of its speakers, not in complaints about its absence on digital platforms.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
